Hi. I'm Jeremy Zufall and I drive a late model #20. I'm a family man with two adorable daughters and a beautiful wife who supports me all the way. (You can see some of their pics on my blog at http://dirttrackracing.blogspot.com)
Dirt Track auto racing is a team effort. I've been working on or around stock cars since I was in my early teens. My dad, Jim Zufall and several of my other uncles, especially my uncles Dale and James, are not only experienced stock car racers, but they are also my pit crew. My dad, mom and sister have been my photographer for many years as well. Now that I am married, my mother in law is my blog and website builder, plus an avid fan. My girls love to visit the different dirt track events to cheer me on. The candy they give away from time to time doesn't hurt either. It is truly a family sport.
My dad, Jim Zufall races in the Charger Division. He's busy helping me but once in awhile he still gets to race and he continues to be an excellent, aggressive driver.
I just started driving a late model for the first time this year, although I have won many dirt track races in the past driving Stock, Emods, and Chargers. It's going to take some practice but I'm hoping to keep moving up in the ranks as I get more experience driving the late model I currently own. Thanks to a few of my sponsors, I was finally able to finish my car and get it on the dirt track.
You are about to discover a really great family sport. In the spring, the dirt track racers in the cold climate zones are busy getting their dirt track cars ready for the new season. Many are searching for sponsors. Others are just finding cars so they can try out the sport. So get ready for a fun season and visit our website for regular updates, the latest dirt track racing schedules, and our blog posts as we add more info about dirt track auto racing.
WHAT IS [DIRT TRACK AUTO RACING]?
Want to see a dirt track auto race in action? Click on the link to check out this heat race (one of the last of the season for Roaring Knob, 2010) to see how the FASTRAK late models try to qualify for the final events. Jeremy was in this heat race.
"Dirt track auto racing" is one form of auto racing that takes place on dirt oval shaped tracks. Dirt track auto racing got its start in the United States before World War I and became very popular during the 1920s and 1930s. There were two different types of race cars that dominated this type of racing: open wheel racers which were popular in the Northeast and in the West, and stock car racing which was popular in the South. The open wheel racers were built specifically for racing mainly on asphalt tracks, and the stock cars were any type of ordinary car that the racer modified in some way. Stock cars could race on either asphalt or dirt tracks. Dirt track auto racing is still the single most common form of auto racing in the United States. It is estimated that there are as many as 1500 regional and local race tracks nationwide.
Dirt track auto racing is also popular in Australia and Canada. For variety, many of the dirt track cars also race on asphalt during the racing season. Dirt Track Auto Racing is Awesome. The engines roar and the dirt flies. Fans scream. The noise is deafening. If you've only watched it on TV then you haven't even begun to experience what it's like in person. Hopefully after reading some of the pages on this site, you will get excited enough to want to find the nearest dirt track, spend about $10-$15 bucks, grab a coffee or a soft drink, bring a blanket to wrap up in (and glasses to keep the dirt out of your eyes), and experience this thrilling sport first hand. Believe me. It's just not the same. You need to "get down and dirty" in the stands beside the dirt track. It's a real experience.
Jeremy is #20 and this is just one of the many dirt track cars he has built. You can find more pics on the blog. Dirt track auto racing is an awesome sport. Once it's in your blood there is nothing you can do but race. In fact, you can almost call it an obsession!
JEREMY ZUFALL #20 - CHAMPION DIRT TRACK RACER LATROBE PA
This web site was built to tell others about this great family sport. It is dedicated to Jeremy who is a champion dirt track racer who has won many races on the oval track in the Pennsylvania tri-state area. He has just completed working on building a new late model modified (the pic above is his new one and last years is now sold).
You can check back on our blog http://www.dirttrackracing.blogspot.com from time to time to see what's new. You will see some of the other dirt track cars Jeremy has driven. He used to have a great looking red car, but not any more. In an effort to keep changing and improving his times and to help him move up in the ranks, he has to get better performing cars to modify.
He, like many dirt track racers, build their cars from the ground up. He's a terrific driver but the quality of car plays an important role in whether you will be a winner or a loser. There are other factors as well so read on.
By the way, since this website was started we have had over 240,000 visitors! That's really great. Thank you dirt track auto racing fans!
